Okay, sorry I’ve been neglecting recently, been bloody stressed out! Won’t tell you why, but all I can do is get on with what I’ve been up to recently. Well, you know my skirt project? & I had to choose a design? Well I drew one…
I should warn you now, I will be putting my work down a lot, because recent events have taken all the confidence I had away and I’m genuinely feeling crap about all my work. So if you like them, thank you, but I don’t. On the brighter side, I am confident that my fashion illustrations will be better… You’ll see. These drawings were only meant to be a few quick sketchies. But yeah… In the end I decided that I don’t want to go with this skirt design to influence my entire project. I’m going back to the pencil skirt. It’s more classy, easy to talk about, and I have an idea cooking in my lil noggin.
Now, I know what you’re thinking… THEY’RE SHIT. Well, at least I’m thinking that. Which is my initial reason of why in no fucking way am I planning on becoming a fashion designer or dressmaker. I just generally hate drawing, unless it’s kinda interesting illustration which I’m looking forward to starting on tomorrow. I’m currently feeling crap about this project, and life in general, as you can tell from my wording and general attitude… But I am starting to look up and find inspiration, I see a light at the end of this tunnel of doom! Sorry, going silly now lol. And losing my trail of thought.
ANYWAY. As we have to take a part of our moodboards and use one or more items as inspiration or used in our projects. Well, on some of my versions, I used my Chanel inspired blue quilted handbag, WHICH I LOVE, and I thought I could take inspiration from the quilted fabric and the ribbon entwined chains too. I’m also thinking about the blue bow and the Tiffany’s box as influences too… The blue bow could enable a lot of different designs, which are quit literally pouring through my head as I type, and they shall be designed tomorrow, and obviously posted upon my beautiful blog (quite literally my salvation at the moment). The Tiffany’s box could include text, and general packaging which is easy enough to order cheaply from eBay and use as material and inspiration for my final product.
There’s also something that I didn’t use in my moodboard. This is a mask that I collected along my travels to Venice, Italy, which is actually famous for it’s mask making. It’s quite old now, because I got it quite a young age, but it’s really beautiful, and obviously blue. I thought, well, why not use this as some sort of influence to make something extra, and go beyond the brief of just making a skirt? I want to make a mask to wear with it, and make it a little different to the other designs strutting along the catwalk. I’ll find a way to link how I’ll make this to the skirt later, by finding a theme to connect it to.
Also, what got me thinking about the bag, was the blatant influence of the typical quilted Chanel bags (the one thing I aspire to be able to afford in the next ten years… However extravagant and ‘ambitious’ that may seem lol).. And I found that (just to link with my project) the Chanel Spring/Summer 2012 Collection contains a lot of powdery blues…

I am CONSTANTLY transfixed by Chanel fashion shows. They’re so beautiful. There’s also an app for that. I check it every day. Karl Lagerfeld is a GENIUS. Speaking of one of my influences, I’ve been advised by Gayle to check out his sketching…

Beautiful! There’s even a beautiful illustration of Coco herself on the main cover of my Chanel biography…
I’ll keep you posted on more updates <3
